The Station Food Hub Company, located in Newport Station at the entrance to the Annapolis Valley, is a social purpose business that adds value to local food with a focus on “perfectly imperfect” food to up-cycle into usable products.
Did you know, on some farms 40% of crop yields are left unsold because they do not meet commercial standards? For example a potato not being round enough, or a carrot not straight enough. This is the unused potential The Station Food Hub Company taps into. We purchase produce destined for the waste stream from farmers, turn it into saleable products, and then make it available to the Nova Scotian marketplace.
We support other Nova Scotia small businesses and producers as well. We offer space rental in our building that can be turned into commercial kitchens, we have a team of experienced staff that can help with product development and packaging solutions, we have dry and cold storage facilities as well as offer distribution of local food.
